Why Join?

-Develop lifelong friendships

-Assume responsibilities in managing and governing the affairs of both our chapter and the General Fraternity.

-Develop your talents of leadership and give them the broadest possible range of experience.

-Obtain the help needed to develop your mind and provide a favorable atmosphere for academic achievement.

-Gain self confidence, a sharpened sense of human relations, and a mature sense of justice.

In Lambda Chi Alpha, we do not associate leadership with an office or a title; we expect everyone to be a leader, and to that end you will receive training in leadership theory and practice. It is no coincidence that the first letters of our core values, LDRSHIP, looks a lot like leadership.

“Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your reputation. It is better to be alone than in bad company”  - George Washington

The Call to Brotherhood

Lambda Chi Alpha was founded here at Boston University just over 100 years ago by a law student named Warren A. Cole. He wanted to start a fraternity in order to prepare and encourage collegiate men of good character, high ethics, and noble ideals to contribute positively to the world in which they live. Lambda Chi Alpha strives to offer the best fraternal experience, focusing on personal character development through leadership, scholarship, community service, and positive social experiences.

Lambda Chi Alpha was the first fraternity to abolish pledges when associate membership replaced pledging in 1972. Since that time, associate members have had full and equal rights in the chapter and the Fraternity replaced pledge education with a dynamic and interactive fraternity education, which dictates ongoing education for all members throughout their university years.

The brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha are truely the leaders on campus and are invovled in many other student organizations. Our core values and education help our brothers be leaders and we do our best to bring that out into the community through service projects, participation in BU activities and clubs, and supporting other organizations and BU sports.

For the 2009-2010 year, we won excellence in relationship with the university, academics (for having the highest GPA consistantly), and recruitment at the Excellence in Student Activities awards. We won the most awards of any other fraternity or sorority for the 2nd year in a row and hope to continue this tradition! For that reason, we are looking for leaders and quality men to help us continue this tradition.

We recruit all the time and are looking for men of good character, high academic standards, and of diverse backgrounds and personalities. Fall 2010 recruitment is coming up, so make sure to stay in touch! It is a very exciting time to join Lambda Chi Alpha at Boston University as we take it into its next century!
